Harvest Festival Mass - 20th September 2015

Annual Outing of The Friends to Erddig - 6th September 2015
Erddig was built in the 1680's for Joshua Edinsbury but cost him his bankruptcy, and was acquired by John Meller, a wealthy London Lawyer, who extended & modernised the house. In 1733 the property passed to his nephew Simon Yorke, and remained in the Yorke family until acquired by the National Trust in 1973. But by then, Erddig was in trouble, for, despite the efforts of the last of the Yorke's, Philip, the building had suffered from 50 years of neglect. Its asset was the wealth of its contents & social history. Erddig was a time capsule. Its rich record of life in the household had been maintained which the Trust has now developed. It is well worth a visit.

Candlelight Mass - 27th March 2015
Each year, the Church holds a "Candlelight Mass of Remembrance" . This is a special mass in which parishioners and visitors remember and pray for their deceased family and friends. The church is floodlit for the occasion, and is lit internally by hundreds of candles. A large number usually attend and each person lights their own candle in memory of their loved ones. A truly memorable and moving occasion.

Annual Outing of The Friends to Hutton in the Forest - 30th August 2014
The story of the house according to legend, begins with Sir Gawain & the Green Knight & continues through the middle ages with the De Hotons. In the early 17th century they sold to the Fletchers, and a century later passed by marriage to the Fletcher Vanes. There is a fine 17th century engraving by Kip which shows that most of the buildings we see (except the south front) were in existance at that time.
