"In a North Country Village"
by M.E.Framcis.

A5 size Booklet containing 163 pages with a number of illustrations in the text. Published in 2008 by North West Catholic History Society - Wigan, Lancashire.

M.E,Framcis was the pen-name of Mary Blundell, the widow of Francis Blundell, a member of the family of Catholic squires of Little Crosby, Lancashire.

Her stories, set in a nineteenth century Lancashire village, are drawn from life in Little Crosby, arguably the most Catholic vilage in the most Catholic county in England. They were very popular when first published in 1893 and still merit attention. She was likened in her own day to Mrs Gaskell and here we have a picture of a Catholic Cranford.
